In February 2026 Olena Panchenko, head of the department of translation and linguistic training of foreigners took part in Pilot Course on Peace Education which was organised in Austria, in the place called Burg Schlaining. Participants from many countries including Ukraine, Egypt, Lebanon, Australia, Cameron and India gathered at Burg Schlaining to engage intensively with Peace Education as a transformative and participatory approach. The course focused on scientific foundations and practice-oriented methods of Peace Education, aiming to support peaceful conflict transformation and strengthen social cohesion. Interactive sessions, outdoor learning formats, and the exhibition “Schlaining and Peace” offered diverse and hands-on learning experiences. This pilot course highlights the key role of Peace Education in peacebuilding efforts and provides an important impulse toward sustainable peace at both local and global levels. Important activities and textual materials suggested by the organizers will be of use for the department of translation.
